Meaning pretty car overall but one or two terrible design cues hard to look past?
Taurus Sho - pretty all around
Then you get to the rear.. did they forget to style any of it? So very bland. Flat, boring tail lights, uhmm hey add a spoiler? Blah.
Malibu - so not a totally pretty car but it’s not bad- like a timid SS.. wait not the SS already is timid. It’s a baby SS.
Giant fugly tail lights.

I said black eye, not dragged behind a tractor trailer through a cactus patch for 7 miles

It’s kinda subjective but I hate the headlights on my WRX, the massive amount of fake chrome throws off the look of the car

Considering we have projectors and LEDs now why the need for reflective dishes and the fake chrome? It can’t be a design trend or preference. Hell, look up any aftermarket headlights and they will always have a blacked out/no chrome option.

There’s something about the front of the new 200 that just doesn’t do it for me. I like every other angle, but that front is just..there’s just something off about it.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 19:54 |

I’m pretty sure you could get a black eye from that.

Actually the Puma has a reverse black eye, I like it’s side view mirrors.

Can you swap in black surrounds from another Impreza?
![]() 06/04/2015 at 20:07 |

I’m with you on the Taurus and I also hated when they did a similar treatment to the back of Mustangs. I don’t know who at Ford thought that boring=good but hopefully they’ve been fired.

Only one of the early years of the gen3 WRX had the black surrounds. A lot of people modify them themselves, but that requires taking them out and literally baking them in an oven. They can come out looking pretty cool with some minor work

Doesn’t every car look good with black headlights?

Toyota Camry. Surprisingly looks very handsome:
But the sporty design doesn’t continue to the back:

It’s a stubby whale and the profile view of the shape of the hood is stubby. The car looks sleek from the rear to the passenger doors then it dies off. I love how in the commercial it looks sleek but in person it’s not.
Like the Mazda 6 looks sleek as hell in ads and in real life.

Damn now I can’t unsee it!

X2 on the Taurus. Everything from Cadillac is the same way. The rear ends just look ...dull.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:09 |

And especially when you compare it to the 300. Why is it so damn hard to put the fucking awesome 300 fascia on a slightly smaller platform?
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:09 |
|
*cough* yes, yes they do.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:10 |

The front fascia on most of Mercedes’s current lineup.

You take that back. My ATS coupe has the ass of a goddess.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:12 |

It looks better in real life. The tail lights are 3d from the body, that huge 3rd brake light is massive and it looks like the back window has ZERO visibility.. but behind so high it reminds me of Kelly Kapowski with her super high shorts from Saved by the Bell.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:15 |

Now that’s where we differ. I think the 300 is absolutely hideous.

Ehh, I don't see it. That and the New CTS leave me underwhelmed.

I always thought those look like some kind of animal presenting itself for mating with its ass so far up like that.

Now all I can see is a stubby whale, especially in that color

Wow, and the award for best car analogy I’ve ever heard goes to...
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:22 |

To me most modern cars have issues with the back end. I don't know if it has to do with aerodynamics and reducing drag or if the designers ran out of design points on the first 3/4 of the car and the big wigs wouldn't give them any potions to replenish.
![]() 06/04/2015 at 21:28 |

I think the LED fangs are a much worse feature.

The new Mazda3. From the front, it looks decent, but at least with the hatch, the back looks like an abused dog with it’s tail tucked between it's legs.

Ehh, if done properly (like on the CTS) it’s not so bad.

Gives people an excuse for rear-ending you.
![]() 06/05/2015 at 08:06 |

Oh dear.. I think I know where this is going. It’ll be a party once everyone figures it out.
![]() 06/05/2015 at 11:58 |

After seeing it in person, I respectfully disagree. From a distance I thought it was a river with tacked on LED strips. It’s pretty fucking bad.
![]() 06/05/2015 at 11:59 |

*ricer.
![]() 06/05/2015 at 12:36 |

I can see why you’d say that. To me, with the way the headlights tie into them, I think it works.

In the daytime, just those lights are on, and it looks ridiculous.

The Buick Sweepspear on the Skylarks from 68/69
I always like the slab-sided look of the later 70-72 or the Cutlass
